Happy 3rd Birthday Jack!

Dear Jack,

Today you are three years old.  Three! I still remember the day that you were born.  I remember every second clear as day.  It’s the day you made me a mommy and I’ll never ever forget it.

You are the spitting image of your daddy.  The very first thought I had when I first saw you after you were born was “He looks just like Jim.”  Some people will tell me that you look like me, but once the see your daddy, they change their mind.  You have the same blond hair that your daddy did as a child, you have his blue eyes and his broad shoulders.

At three years old, I am often amazed at how very grown up you are.  You are a sponge and learn things quickly but you are stubborn and only show what you know when you want to.  You can count to 25, you know the days of the week and just this weekend, I heard you reciting about half of the months of the year.  I’m constantly amazed by what you know.

Your excitement for life in intoxicating.  I can’t help but smile and laugh when in the same room with you.  Everything excites you.  From getting a bowl of cereal to playing with your little brother.

You had a really big year.  We welcomed your little brother into our family and I am still in awe of how well you adapted.  In more than a year, I can’t recall a single moment of jealously.  You immediately accepted and loved your brother.  I am so proud of how you handled the whole thing.

I know that you think of yourself as a big boy now, and you are such a big boy, but you will always be my baby.  You will always be the little boy who taught me to how to be a mommy.  You will always be my Jacky Bear.

Happy Birthday, baby boy!  Mama loves you!
