Seven Months!

Xander turned 7 months old on Saturday.  Seven months.  I can’t believe it.  In just a few short months we will be celebrating his first birthday.

Xanny has been growing like a weed.  He’s up to 27 inches and 16lbs 4oz (as of last week).  He’s so big that we have made a couple big transitions recently.  First, X is no longer taking a bath in the infant bathtub in the kitchen sink.  We are officially taking baths in the big boy bath tub in the main bathroom.

X is unimpressed by the new bath situation.  I’m pretty sure that it’s because there aren’t as many cool things to grab on to.  I should mention that one of the main reasons that we switched to the bathtub is because X is a full-fledged sitter now!  He will sit for 15 or 20 minutes at a time.  He plays or just sits mesmerized by his big brother.

Our other big transition is to the convertible car seat.  I just put his seat in the car today.  He’ll have his first ride in it tomorrow.  Not only is he almost too long for the seat, but I’m getting tired of lugging that thing around!

In other Xander news, I feel pretty confident in saying that we have mastered the whole puree thing.  X did not take to eating purees particularly well.  He really just lost his tounge-thrust reflux in the last couple weeks.  Before that feeding him was fairly frustrating for the both of us.  He clearly wanted to eat the food (opened his mouth nice and wide) but he just kept pushing the food back out.  We are still kind of messy, but what 7 month old isn’t?  Next step is to try some simple finger foods.  Mum-mums and puffs are first up on the list!

This is honestly on of my favorite times in a baby’s 1st year.  Learning to sit, become mobile and just becoming more and more aware of their surroundings.  I’m so excited to continue watching Xander become more like a little person and less like a baby!
